ZombieThis is a Halloween message, but one that rings true all year.  If you eat only “dead” food, you'll feel like the living dead!  You’ll lack vitality, youthfulness and life energy because your food is lacking in real nutrition.  So, don’t play tricks on your body, give it “live” food with treats full of nutrients.

What Is Dead Food?

Dead food is fried, over-cooked or overly processed food that is devoid of vital nutrients.  Examples include over cooked meat and vegetables, pre-packaged foods, and/or anything in the junk food aisles at the grocery store.

Why Are Some Foods Considered Dead?

Burnt ToastWhen food is overcooked, the live enzymes and vitamins and minerals are diminished.  Enzymes are required for humans to digest the things we consume.  However, many of the things we eat don’t contain any live enzymes of their own.  This means that the body has to work even harder to break these foods down into usable components. The enzymes are necessary to unlock the doors to your cells, allowing the nutrients such as vitamins and minerals to enter.  When the enzymes are not active, the nutrients are not absorbed by the body.  So, you may get some fiber or fat and carbohydrates, but not the most valuable parts of the food.

Burnt FoodHumans began cooking their food for very important reasons.  The heat kills off bacteria that can be associated with raw food, especially meat and dairy products.  Somewhere along the way, though, we started cooking almost everything.  Unfortunately, this also destroys many of the vital properties of plant-based foods.  Even our juice is generally heat pasteurized, which takes away from its nutritional value.

Where To Find Live Foods

Some of the best live foods are raw fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, seaweed, and grains and legumes that have been sprouted.  These “whole foods" provide high levels of vitamins and minerals, in addition to amino acids and even oxygen.  The key to protecting these nutrients, along with the ever-important live enzymes, is to avoid cooking the foods at high temperatures.

There are also some valuable pre-packaged “live” foods that still contain all the necessary enzymes and other components.  These pre-packaged foods are processed at temperatures that are low enough so as not to harm the vital nutrients.  In the case of NuPlus, the whole food ingredients are prepared at a low temperature, while the fiber and water are removed.
NuPlusThis leaves the most potent parts of the plants, the valuable vitamins, minerals and enzymes that make you feel ALIVE!  These “whole” foods contain all the nutrients and active enzymes needed to get the vitamins and minerals into your cells where they can do the most good.

VitaShake and Quinary are prepared this way too, with dozens of different whole food ingredients full of vital, life giving nutrients that your body is crying out for.

The Benefits of Eating “Live” Foods

VitaShake Because the live enzymes in whole foods are able to work with the body’s digestive system, less energy is used to break the foods down.  The body doesn’t have to work as long or as hard to do the same job.  This means that we actually receive more energy from eating less food overall!

By choosing healthy “whole” foods, we can get more of those live enzymes back into our systems doing the job they were intended to do.  That way, you’ll have enough energy to protect yourself from the living dead!
